Saturday September 12 (post 1 today)

They poured our foundation Friday Sept. 11. It poured down rain the entire time. The guys were still at our house when we got home. We got home late. The guys were at our house until after 8 PM. It was raining the entire time. It rained all day. They took to cutting swaths of the black plastic sheeting, improvising rain ponchos. It was rather otherworldly looking.

The crew was still at the house when we got home last night. I had already determined that I must rest my foot instead of immediately trekking around out there, and this sealed my decision. I was feeling a little shy.

This would have been a great series. However, my camera battery died in the middle of it. It would have been a great flip-book. I got 3 shots from what would have been about 6. Sad.

They were scheduled to pour our foundation today. Today. The day that the skies finally opened up. Well, I don't know for sure that it rained at our house. It's rained somewhere in Austin almost every day this week, but not at our house. So they were going to pour the foundation this morning. I don't know if they did it or not. The rain just poured and poured in town. I wonder what I will find when I get home tonight...

Nine Oh Nine Oh Nine

We are taking evening sojourns through the new construction. My cat, who is very attached to me (he is my familiar), follows us on these inspections each day. He must investigate all details. He must sniff everything. He also meows quite a lot while doing this. He is clearly disturbed by the disruptions to his life. Big trucks, piles of lumber and rebar and roofing shingles, strange sweaty working men. They even use the hose, so they come right up to our current house.

They are building my house out of bags of dirt.

Rebar! And Joe. And Mr. Cat. He is doing the safety inspection of the rebar.

He sticks with us like glue. He is upset we are leaving (already). He needs more inspection time.

Look- there was a big truck in my yard as I left for work this morning! Also pictured: an awesome sunset over what's left of my willow trees (with faint outline of house in the shadows); my needy cat needing me; Big pile of dirt.

All of these were taken on different days at different times of day.

I can hardly wait to get home today to see what else is done.

This is last day of sloppy blog. Starting tomorrow everything will be date stamped and in order.
