Then, I went to ACL

We interrupt this house building blog with a news flash: Austin City Limits Music Festival

I deeply, deeply regret not getting any lawn shots. My bad. You will see why I'm so regretful soon.

Friday October 2

First I saw The Sound & The Jury winner, The Bright Lights Social Hour. They were great!

Then I saw Low Anthem, which if you read my facebook you know I described as 'deconstructed Americana with a fat dirty groove'. They were very unique and very awesome!

Then, since it was very sunny, and was getting very pink because security had confiscated my sunscreen (metal can), I decided to duck into the Wildflower stage, which is covered. I missed Sara Watkins, but what I saw instead was nice... I mean, niiiice. The sound in the wildflower tent wasn't that great. But I still loved it! I saw 4 bands in the tent.

Then, Walter 'Wolfman' Washington came on this stage (no vid). He was smooooth...

After that, I saw some of Daniel Johnston's set. He was... freaky!

And I caught one song of Phoenix, French rock and rollers

Then I tripped on over to see Raphael Sadiiq. Swoon... I stayed for his whole show baby!

Raphael Sadiiq

After that I met up with Jen and saw all of John Legend's show (swoon, too)

It was a full moon. Or close to it.

Then I saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They were pretty freaky too, but in a good way (no pics).

Jen likes 'em

Saturday.. Saturday was rain day. Sigh. It was pretty much a waste of time, but we had fun anyway. Sort of.

The Mud Series: Thus begins the ruination of the lawn.

Rain, Rain

Isn't this great?

We heard -couldn't see- someone called Eek Mouse (or something). Then, during a break in the rain, we decamped and went over to the XBox stage to see STS9 (Sound Track System 9), which I was really looking forward to. Unfortunately, the skies opened up with a fury again, so we left. We were tired of being wet!

So long, ACL 09

Sunday- we all had premonitions of the final destruction. So we stayed home. After what I saw on TV, I believe the right choice was made.
